Wakehurst | West Sussex

Wakehurst is one of the most beautiful and significant botanic gardens in the country and offers over 400 acres of breathtaking scenery to create photo memories forever including the Mansion pond, the walled garden, its famous Redwood Christmas tree or its oversized wicker flower sculptures as well as a choice of wedding venues that include The Grade I listed Mansion, The Millennium Seed Bank (MSB) or a marquee on the croquet lawn.

MARRY IN AN ELIZABETHAN MANSION

The Mansion at Wakehurst is a truly ‘lived in’ Elizabethan mansion that offers a rare glimpse of life gone by, a picture that can be recreated by offering an intimate and flexible option for every wedding, whether it be holding your civil ceremony or partnership or simply your wedding breakfast.

The Dining Room, unique to Wakehurst with its oak panelled walls and Monk’s fireplace also benefits from glorious afternoon daylight that streams through three windows that each face east, west and southerly over the Mansion and Croquet lawns. Whilst able to accommodate 60 for a ceremony, the adjacent larger Gallery holds 80 for ceremonies and the Mansion Lawn is host to the most romantic of outdoor ceremonies for up to 140 guests.

TROPICAL SURROUNDINGS

With the Mansion able to hold wedding breakfasts for up to 130, couples with up to 150 guests can have their wedding breakfast in the striking glasshouse of The Millennium Seed Bank.Set against a plethora of tropical succulents and grasses, cool dark granite and glass and on top of one of the world’s most globally diverse hotspots – an underground vault housing the world’s largest seed collection, it is a truly unique wedding venue that also has its own outdoor reception area with water and plant life filled parterres, a talking point if ever there was one.

MARQUEE WEDDINGS

If you had always dreamt of a marquee on the lawn but didn’t have a garden big enough, a marquee at Wakehurst provides you with the opportunity to make a bespoke dream wedding in either a traditional marquee setting or perhaps one of the more popular options of the day – a tipi!

Wakehurst also offers a selection of Ceremony Packages in the Mansion which focus on a price per head price for the ceremony room and a drinks reception, with a variety of different options suiting different numbers and budgets. For example, champagne and canapes, afternoon tea or just prosecco and cake. Prices start from £25 + VAT p.p. Alternatively Wakehurst’s preferred suppliers will happily discuss your requirements and assist wherever possible.

“We pride ourselves on being a fully accessible and inclusive venue.” Wedding Coordinator, Wakehurst
